American Electric and Power is currently replacing copper wiring with copper-clad wiring at its facilities along with deploying new security technology around its facilities and substations. Copper-clad wiring provides an equal level of functionality and looks very much like copper wiring, but has a different metal content. It is made up of a steel core and a copper exterior.
